Cybersecurity
You can rely on professionals who specialize in identity and access management, privacy, and cybersecurity as you pursue your educational and research goals. We provide solutions in partnership with campus to ensure that cybersecurity is built into the education and research environments.
What we do

Respond to and address cybersecurity threats
We deploy countermeasures against known and active threats and use data to pinpoint areas of risk.

Reduce vulnerability and exposure
We maintain applications and services that protect university assets from cyberthreats, lead efforts to educate university IT professionals about cybersecurity and provide tools for university leaders to better understand cybersecurity threats.

Help you understand data classification and digital risk
We provide risk consultation for units and review agreements and contracts with third party vendors to ensure alignment with university privacy and cybersecurity requirements.
If your project will result in a purchase that will store, collect, access, create, manage, process or transmit university data, engage us at the beginning of the project for smoother implementation.

Safeguard privacy
We help campus units protect the privacy of individuals as they pursue educational, research and business goals. We advise on privacy best practices that reflect university values and ethical standards, and that meet legal requirements. We provide tools to understand your personal data: how it’s collected, used, stored and shared.

Train the campus community about cybersecurity
We deliver engaging cybersecurity training to better protect university resources. This includes quarterly training for all staff and specialized training for groups and units to address specific cybersecurity and privacy issues. We also educate faculty, staff and students through outreach and information efforts.

Furnish appropriate access to university resources and data
We support individual access to data and to systems based on roles and on educational and business needs in two ways: Identity management connects you with your online identity at the University of Illinois. Access management lets you in to the university systems that you may use—and keeps out those who are not eligible.
