With so many people visiting the University of Illinois at once, staying connected becomes more important than ever. A few simple technology tips can help make the day smoother, less stressful, and more enjoyable for graduates and their guests.
Tech tips to stay connected on graduation day
Connect to guest Wi-Fi: IllinoisNet_Guest.
- Select IllinoisNet_Guest in your device’s Wi-Fi settings.
- Open a web browser to begin registration.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to receive login credentials via text or email.
- Access will remain active until 4 a.m. each day.
- Once connected, you can share photos, check schedules, and stay in touch throughout the day.
Plan for high traffic on Wi-Fi.
- Large crowds, especially at Memorial Stadium, can slow connection speeds. Connect to Wi-Fi early when possible.
- Allow a few extra moments for pages to load during peak times.
Use the Illinois App for navigation.
- Access campus maps directly from your phone.
- Find ceremony locations, parking areas, restrooms, and nearby buildings.
Know where to get tech help.
- If you run into connectivity problems or general questions, support is available.
- Visit, email, or use a family member’s NetID to submit a ticket to get help from the IT Service Desk.
- Get help from trained staff who are ready to assist quickly.
