Thanks to the dedication of our campus IT community, Tech Points 2025 was a remarkable success. Over three days, volunteers connected with thousands of students through pop-up support locations, campus events and presentations to underclassmen in lecture halls.

Hosted at the Campus Instructional Facility, Ikenberry Commons and the Illini Union with a virtual option on Zoom, Tech Points provided a welcoming first stop for technology support during the busy back-to-school week.

Tech Points collaborated with many campus units to assist students throughout welcome week. They attended and supported the campus community at the International Student Resource Fair hosted by ISSS at the Krannert Center for Performing Arts, the Welcome Celebration hosted by New Student & Family Experiences at Grange Grove, LAS Lift Off at State Farm Center, Illini Frenzy at the Activities & Recreation Center, Business Quad Day at the Illini Union and The Illini Union Bookstore.

The most common questions this year focused on connecting to IllinoisNet and enrolling in Multi-Factor Authentication, with volunteers offering quick, effective solutions. Students also received support with NetIDs, passwords, Canvas, email and more.

This event relied on strong collaboration across the university IT community. Volunteers represented many units, including the Office of the CIO, Office of the Executive Vice President and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Gies College of Business, College of Education, Vice Chancellor Research Institutes, Grainger College of Engineering and the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. Volunteer Lilly Haas-Feuerhelm reflected, “I always appreciate the opportunity to work with other IT Pros around campus while we get to spend some time helping out students. Tech Points is a great way to provide a service to the campus community while also having fun getting to know some of our students.”

“It’s a powerful example of how we support not only our students, but also each other,” says committee chair Allison Lappin.

By combining expertise and time, Tech Points 2025 gave Illinois students a strong start to the semester and highlighted the impact of a united IT community.

Thank you to the Tech Points Committee for their dedication in making this year’s event successful.
